Know what the copy contains
An update goes wrong and part of the website stops working. A backup exists, but nobody knows its date or contents. Ask those questions before the incident. For a site using a database, files alone may not include all content and settings.
Test away from the public site
Restore a copy in a separate environment, with email sending and other real actions disabled. Check important pages, images, menus and forms. For a Belgian site, review the French and Dutch versions. Seeing the homepage is not proof that everything has recovered.
Write a short recovery procedure
Record where copies are kept, who can request recovery and who will check the result. Identify what could be missing between the last backup and the incident. Recent orders or messages may need separate attention. At your next maintenance review, ask when a restore was last tested. A specific answer is more useful than a general security promise.
